The Interesting Way Carl's Grave On The Walking Dead Ties To The Comic Books

TV Shane and Comic Shane didn't share the exact same story path or anything, but neither one of them made it very far into the narrative. In the comics, Carl was protecting Rick when he shot Shane through the throat, and when the semi-villain was buried, they used the same kind of bound-together sticks to make a cross. The big different was that it was Shane's police hat that was hung on the grave marker, and not a gun. It's almost weird that Rick didn't have Carl's hat in that TV moment, but one can probably assume Carl was buried with it.
