Box Office: 'Jurassic World 2' Defeats 'Incredibles 2' Again, 'Sicario 2' Tops Original

Dino-might was unbeatable as the box office kissed June 2018 goodbye.

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" only made $60 million in its second weekend -- a drop of 59 percent from last week, and $20 million less than "Incredibles 2" made in its second weekend -- but it was enough to be No. 1.

So far, the "Jurassic World" sequel has picked up $264.7 million in its domestic release and a whopping $667.6 million from overseas, where it opened several weeks ago. "Jurassic World 2" is currently sitting at $932,387,335 in total grosses so far, knock-knock-knockin' on billion's door for some point after Fourth of July week.

That's a LOT of people crying for a Brachiosaurus.

"Incredibles 2" took second to "Jurassic World 2" for a second straight week, this time with $45.5 million.

But "Incredibles 2" opened one week earlier, and its $180 million opening and $80 million second week both outperformed the dinos. As of now, it has $439.7 million from the domestic box office, which is about $175M more than "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom."

According to Deadline, at this rate, "the Pixar superheros will easily become the second-highest movie of all time stateside for the animated studio after Finding Dory ($486.2M) and ahead of Toy Story 3 ($415M)." So the supers beat "Finding Dory" for a record opening, but may not pick up the same money in the end. Too much "Jurassic" competition. Blame Star-Lord for that, too.

"Sicario: Day of the Soldado" took third on this weekend's box office chart with $19 million. That's not a huge debut, but it's higher than first film's wide release debut of just over $12 million in 2015 -- despite "Sicario" earning better reviews than the sequel.

Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin star in SICARIO 2: SOLDADO.Apparently "Day of the Soldado" was only tracking in the $9 million to $13 million range, which just goes to show that tracking data is about as useful as reviews these days in determining ticket sales. "Day of the Soldado" cost more to make than the first film's $30 million, so as much as this box office may be a win, it's not clear if it'll make its $35-$45 million back.

"Uncle Drew" ended up in fourth with about $15.5 million. The NBC comedy earned a CinemaScore of "A" vs. "Sicario 2" getting a B.

The rest of the top 10 this week only included one newbie. "Ocean's 8" took fifth, then "Tag," "Deadpool 2," "Sanju," "Solo: A Star Wars Story," and "Won't You Be My Neighbor." "Sanju" -- which picked up $2.55 million -- is a Bollywood film enjoying the widest release of any Bollywood film over here.

"Avengers: Infinity War" dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since its release, picking up $1.4 million to take 12th.

"Avengers 3" has been on this chart for 11 weeks, and has a current worldwide total of $2,034,226,649. It's not quite enough to defeat "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the third highest-grossing movie of all time. But it's so close! If you consider $30 million close. In this case, you should.

What's next?

"The First Purge" is coming Wednesday, July 4, trying to get ahead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe release "Ant-Man and the Wasp," which opens this coming Friday, July 6. The early tracking estimates for the "Ant-Man" sequel were probably too conservative, but we'll see.
