Actor Hugh Dane Dies at 75, 'The Office' Costars Pay Tribute

Hugh Dane, the actor best known to TV fans as security guard Hank on "The Office," has died. He was 75.

Dane's death was announced in a Facebook post shared by the Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center, which revealed that the actor passed away on May 16. No cause of death was given.

Though Dane had enjoyed a long career in television and film before he joined "The Office," the actor's work as Hank was by far his most well-known role. Dane appeared as the no-nonsense character in 22 episodes of the hit sitcom, beginning in season two and continuing up until the show's last season in 2013.

The actor was remembered by his former Dunder Mifflin coworkers in several social media tributes, with Rainn Wilson, Steve Carell, Mindy Kaling, and Andy Buckley (who played CEO David Wallace) all sharing their remembrances of the "kind, funny, talented" Dane.

In addition to his work on "The Office," Dane guest-starred on TV series including "Friends," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Martin," "Boy Meets World," "New Girl," and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." He also appeared in films including "Bridesmaids," "Joy Ride," and "Little Fockers."

A memorial service is being held for Dane at the Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center this weekend.
